Area Emergency Managers warn of impending weather dangers

As Spring severe weather season swings into full force, emergency managers in Southwest Missouri are warning residents that their safety depends on being aware and prepared, in combination with timely and accurate warning. They are taking the initiative to educate the public about the dangers associated with severe weather and the importance of early warning in coordination with the National Weather Service.

PCA’s goal is both public education and to place 10,000 alarm-equipped, programmable all-hazard/weather radios in homes, schools and businesses throughout sixteen counties in the Southwest Missouri area.

As a component of their successful Project Community Alert (PCA), area emergency managers have partnered with local companies to help ensure public safety, preparedness and life-saving response through accurate and timely warning. PCA, in its first year, is a community-wide effort of the various Southwest Missouri Emergency Managers and the National Weather Service.
